About Adrienne Adams
Adrienne Adams (February 10, 1906) was an American children’s book illustrator known for winning two Caldecott medals for her work on “Houses from the Sun” and “The Day We Saw the Sun Come Up.”
Before gaining recognition for her illustrations, Adams attended the University of Missouri and The American School of Design.
In addition to her award-winning books, she also illustrated popular fairy tales such as Thumbelina and The Shoemaker and the Elves. She married John Anderson in 1935, subsequently illustrating one of his children’s books titled Bag of Smoke in 1942.
