Amy Sherman-Palladino, born on January 17, 1968 in Los Angeles, California, is an American television writer, director and producer. She is best known as the creator of popular shows such as Gilmore Girls and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Prior to her successful career in television, she pursued a career as a dancer but later transitioned into writing after joining the staff of Roseanne. Sherman-Palladino has also contributed to other sitcoms like Veronica’s Closet and has achieved acclaim for her work.

In 2018, she received an Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series for her outstanding contributions to The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. She comes from a family with entertainment industry ties – her father Don Sherman was a comedian and her mother Maybin Hewes appeared in Gilmore Girls – while she herself is married to Daniel Palladino who works as a television executive producer, screenwriter and director.
