About Amy Chua
Amy Chua, born on October 26, 1962 in Champaign, Illinois, is a memoirist and law professor at Yale University. She is best known for her memoir “Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother” (2011) and her first book “World on Fire: How Exporting Free Market Democracy Breeds Ethnic Hatred and Global Instability” (2003), which was a New York Times bestseller.
Chua attended Harvard University where she served as the editor of the Harvard Law Review. She taught at Duke University for nearly a decade before joining the faculty at Yale Law School in 2001. In addition to her well-known books, she published “Day of Empire: How Hyperpowers Rise to Global Dominance – and Why They Fall” in 2007.
Being born in Illinois to Chinese-Filipino immigrant parents, Amy married fellow Yale Law School professor Jed Rubenfeld, with whom she has daughters named Sophia and Louisa.
