About Anita Borg
Anita Borg, born on January 17, 1949 in Illinois, was a prominent computer scientist known for her pioneering work in the field. She dedicated herself to promoting the careers of female computer scientists by founding the Institute for Women and Technology and initiating the Systers listserve for women programmers.
After earning her Ph.D. in Computer Science from New York University in the early 1980s, Borg went on to receive numerous honors for her scientific contributions, including the prestigious Augusta Ada Lovelace Award from the Association for Women in Computing, as well as recognition from organizations such as the Electronic Frontier Foundation Pioneer Award and the Heinz Award.
Borg spent her childhood years living in Illinois, Hawaii, and Washington before relocating to New York, California, and Germany. Sadly, she passed away at age fifty-four after battling a brain tumor.
