About Anne, Queen of Great Britain
Anne, Queen of Great Britain, was born on February 6, 1665, in England. She held the title of queen of England, Scotland, and Ireland from 1702 to 1707 when England and Scotland united to form the single sovereign state Great Britain. Subsequently, she became queen of Great Britain from 1707 until her death in 1714.
During her reign, which took place at the end of the Stuart dynasty and the beginning of the Georgian period, Anne played a significant role in shaping the early years of Great Britain’s history.
Before becoming queen, Anne grew up in France where she lived with her grandmother who helped care for an eye condition. Known for having a close relationship with her sister Mary as well as Lady Sarah Churchill and Lady Abigail Masham among others.
Anne’s family life included being born to James II of England and Anne Hyde. In addition to this lineage line is also notable is that she married Prince George Denmark in 1683. Although she experienced seventeen pregnancies during their marriage only five live births occurred though none survived into adulthood.
