She is best recognized for portraying Natalie Henning on the OWN soap opera If Loving You Is Wrong and Detective Claire Bryce in the legal thriller series How to Get Away with Murder.
Prior to gaining fame through television, she worked as a stage actress in New York. April has appeared in numerous other notable series including Lost, NCIS, Scandal, 90210, Jericho,S.W.A.T., Supergirl and The Fosters.
In 2007, April married actor Joseph J. Jones. Tragically, they faced the loss of their son Will in 2018.
