About Arlene Duncan
Arlene Duncan is a Canadian actress and singer known for her appearances in over 80 film and television roles, as well as numerous theatrical productions. She gained recognition for her performances in “Don’t Say a Word” and “Silent Hill: Revelation.” Sharing updates about her projects on her Instagram account (@msarlened), she also played Meredith Lawson in the TV series Accused in 2023.
Before fame, Duncan studied musical theater at Sheridan College and won the Du Maurier Search for Stars contest in 1979. In addition to acting, she released her debut single “I Wanna Groove” in 1982, earning Female Vocalist of the Year at the 1983 Canadian Black Music Awards. Her contributions to dance/house music were recognized with an award from the Black Label Artists Coalition in 1994.
She was born and raised in Oakville, Ontario, Canada, to Icilda and Alvin Aberdeen Duncan. Her great-grandfather Benedict Duncan escaped slavery via the Underground Railroad from Maryland—a significant part of her family history.
