About Diane Johnson
Diane Johnson (born April 28, 1934) is an American novelist known for her satirical works that often feature American female characters living abroad in France. She was born in Moline, Illinois and later divided her time between Paris and San Francisco.
Prior to her successful career as a novelist, Johnson wrote a column for The New York Review of Books. Her novel “Persian Nights” was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in 1988, and she won the California Book Award for “Le Divorce” in 1997.
Johnson’s diverse talents include co-writing the screenplay for the horror film “The Shining,” adapted from Stephen King’s novel of the same title.
