Valerie Adams, born on October 6, 1984 in Rotorua, New Zealand, is a dominant shot putter known for her impressive achievements in the sport. She has won consecutive Olympic gold medals in 2008 and 2012.

Prior to gaining international recognition, she achieved success at a young age by winning her first World Youth Championship gold medal at the age of 17. Throughout her career, she has also secured three World Championship gold medals and two World Indoor Championships gold medals.

Adams was raised among 17 siblings, many of whom have pursued careers as professional athletes due to their large stature. Notably, one of her brothers is basketball player Steven Adams. She was previously married to Bertrand Vili from 2004 until 2010 before marrying Gabriel Price in 2016. She maintains close ties with her in-laws.
